Standard Vanilla Butter Cream

This is just a standard vanilla butter cream recipe that can be used on cakes of most kinds and is very adaptable.  You can add other flavours to the vanilla butter cream, using it as a base flavour, for instance: vanilla fudge, mint, raspberry, orange and lemon.  You can add any colour to the frosting as well :)

Ingredients: enough for 12 cupcakes

  • 500g icing sugar
  • 80g butter (Lurpak)
  • tsp vanilla extract/flavouring
  • 25ml semi-skimmed milk
Method:
  1. Add all of the ingredients together in a big bowl and mix together with an electric whisk.  Use a low setting at first to avoid a huge icing sugar dust cloud and then switch to a higher powered setting until it is light and fluffy.
This is a standard vanilla cupcake, cooked with a raspberry in the bottom, with vanilla butter cream on top and a rose shaped candy on top.  To learn how to make the rose shaped candies read here.
